Community Updates 05.18.26

I wanted to start getting some updates out to the community each week and keep everyone informed on our progress! The big focus over the past 6 months has been getting the game stood up, working, and feeling fun. We’ve been getting together each week to playtest and refine the experience and it’s getting close!

To give you a high-level overview of the game - it’s a small tabletop skirmish game, with teams of between 5 and 10 models on each side. Each player will build their team up to a maximum of 60 Rating (points) and play a wacky special ops mission in the world of Space-Ops. It’s a similar experience to Kill Team, Mordheim, Frostgrave, etc.

The core loop revolves around the Action Phase, where each player alternates a model and performs actions. A large variety of Equipment unlocks special actions, allowing models to do cool stuff on the board. We let models do as many actions as they can, but the game pushes back against the player, as the more actions you attempt the more dangerous they become.

More info on the game in the coming months as we finish out 2 more factions and finalize the rulebook!

Just to give you some behind-the-scenes flavor, here’s more high-level changes to the game in the past month:

  • Changed the stat system from a d10 system over to d6. There were several reasons for this, but honestly the biggest reason was rolling a fist full of d10 dice sucks. They have a bad “hand-feel”!

  • Expanding gun ranges, adding medium and grenade ranges.

  • Adding vehicle rules for Ramming and for Pilots disembarking/embarking.

  • Adding the Hacking mini-game. If models equip a cyberdeck, they can hack!

  • Game board size reduced down to 2’ x 3’

  • Updates to how Teams are built. Models now start with no weapons and equipment, and some gear costs 0 rating. Introduced quality rating to gear to reduce spamming.

  • Changed the flow of the rulebook, to follow how a player would naturally be introduced into the game. Closer to a D&D flow rather than a 40k flow.
